We have two busy weeks ahead of us in Corkery this week. Although we're all getting excited for Christmas there is still work that needs to be done!

Christmas in Corkery from 4:45-6:30. Students should be practicing Joy to the World at home and have it memorized by Thursday. We will be practicing every day in class as well. Friday- Ski forms are due. Passion Project presentations are continuing. Monday (December 17)- Musical theatre performance. The students will be presenting block two. All families are welcome. The performance will be held block 2 (10:30). Students should be practicing their song and dance at home. The rubric and outline can both be found there as well. Thursday (December 20)- Secret Santa gift exchange. Your child now has the name of their Secret Santa if they chose to participate. They will be asked to bring in a wrapped present with their selections name on it and put it on my desk in the morning. The gifts will then be handed out at the end of block 2. All grade 5 and 6 students have been shared the music and lyrics to both the musical theatre song and the Christmas in Corkery song. They are encouraged to practice both this weekends. Musical theatre practice will be on Monday with Robin and it is our last session with her. Students in grade 5 should have most of the lyrics memorized as well as their tableau position set. Students in grade 6 should also have most of the lyrics memorized as well as the dance moves practiced. There is a video for the grade 6 students in their drive of their dance moves as well. Have a wonderful weekend!
- Socks and suds donations until Thursday
- Practice musical theatre song/dance - December book report due Dec. 18 Most students presented their November mystery book reports today and all did an amazing job! Starting this month the book report guidelines and rubric will now be online. This afternoon I opened them up to the students on their Hapara account. This allows them to access them anywhere, reduces the paper used in class, and eliminates the chance that the paper gets lost throughout the month. The students should all be familiar with Hapara by now as we have used in for other assignments in class. This month the book report is on myths and legends. The students are required to choose either one and summarize/re-tell the story right before Christmas. As December is a busy month I have tried to simplify the book report as much as possible and used a similar rubric as the first report. On the students account I have also included a website that gives examples of myths and legends as well as a website that has various lengths of myths they are able to choose from. If there are any questions feel free to let me know.
Today was a catch-up day for us in math. Be sure to check with your child if they have any homework left over. Any work that was not finished in class is now homework.
